Ungaro Dropped, Luella Stopped, ANTM Revamped +VS Shuffled = LDV Fashion Scoop

I realize the turn around in fashion news is just extremely too fast at times, and the last thing I ever want to do is leave my darling readers out of the loop. Whenever the heap gets to be too much, I plan too sum it all up in one scoop! Here we go.
  • After it's disastrous Spring 2010 collection, Emanuel Ungaro has been dropped from Neiman Marcus and Net-a-Porter like a bad habit! The high-end department store and online retailor are crucial outlets which determine the success of any established fashion house. This is the opposite of good news. Would the insertion of "Creative Director", Lindsay Lohan have anything to do with it? Just this week, Emanuel Ungaro, 76, who left his eponymous fashion house years ago expressed his frustration with Lindsay. “I’m furious but there isn’t a thing I can do. I have absolutely no link with that house.”

  • And the economic storm keeps rising, blasting a gusty blow so strong that it knocked Luella Bartley out of business! With clients like Alexa Chung and Katy Perry, no one saw this coming. Alexa started her own grass roots campaign to help the doomed line by blasting #saveluella messages through her twitter account. Meanwhile, to clear stock, the brand is slashing prices via their website, so get it before it's gone.

  •  The Daily News says prime-time talk show queen, Tyra Banks isn't taking her ANTM ratings slumps lying down. She's taking action to avoid further drops by enlisting Kimora Lee Simmons and Andre Leon Talley as judges. I can't wait for that panel. Bring back wacky Janice and I'm sold!

  • With Gisele and Adriana preggers, Karolina and Heidi recently dropping their loads, the annual Victoria Secret Fashion Show has seen better days. But, no need to panic! The show will take place as usual on November 19th and air on December 1st, but with a crop of new angels added to the lineup, including Chanel Iman and Rosie Huntington Whiteley.

Zara November Look Book

I was browsing Design Scene and came across the Zara Look Book for the company's November delivery. To say I'm a fan of the cheap-chic, upscale retailer would be an understatement. I cannot walk past a Zara without stopping in. No lie, proven fact, like it's completely impossible! For November, the chain has lots of bold, pointy 80's style shoulders, but updated and modern. Sheer button up blouses make for clean, sophisticated looks. The color pallet stays along the lines of mostly charcoal grey, rich brown, deep maroon, crisp white, navy, and powder blue. My favorite piece aside from the clothes themselves has to be those sleek leather bow-tie belts, which seem to pull each look together perfectly. Judge for yourself below.

In love yet?

We're Caught in a Bad Romance with Lady Gaga...

So bad it's good. The pop icon took the entertainment world by storm with hits like "Poker Face" and "Just Dance" all while keeping those pesky paparazzi on their toes forcing impromptu pantless street side photoshoots. She's the one we all tried to hate, but failed. She has proved to be an undeniable performer and vocal talent and a much needed breath of fresh air in music. I'll never forget the first Gaga interview I'd seen and I thought this chick is one-hit wonder, riding off a cheap gimmick. Well, I'll admit I was wrong. No matter how creepy that MTV performance was, it still showed her true talent.

Fast forward, this year alone Gaga has won a rack of music awards worldwide, honored for her expert accentuation and adornment of accessories at the ACE Awards, to inspiring Carine Roitfield. Seriously, who inspires a Vogue Editor? Craziness! Carine dons a traditional Gaga look in an all black, barely there, lace body suit, suede tie-up thigh-high boots, and a black cape to match. I think she's Gaga approved. ;)  Check her out in her new video posted below wearing head-to-toe Alexander McQueen. Did you see those shoes? Absolute madness. I ask, who's hotter than Gaga? I'll wait for the answer while you watch Bad Romance.

Is this the reverse black face? Here are a few shots of Chanel Iman for Deutsch Magazine shot by David Roemer. Either way she still looks great.

Faces on the Milk Carton: Sessilee Lopez

Where have you been Sessilee? One of my favorite models of the moment packed up her twitter page and sent it off to deactivation land some time ago, and has been ghost ever since. Rumors swirled for weeks that it was all due in part to a little back stage cat-fighting with fellow model Chanel Iman. Anyway, Major Model management just released these head shots of the austere beauty. Where are you Sessilee and when will you be joining us again?

Glamour Magazine's 2009 Women of the Year Awards

Now I know I'm a few days late, but life's been hectic and I just feel like this deserves a post. A couple nights ago Glamour Magazine held its annual Women of the Year of Awards honoring celebs like Rihanna, tennis star Serena Williams, and Kerry Washington. It was indeed a night of glamour and celebration. I'm so jealous, I have to find out how to get tickets next year.  So you know what we do here.

Stylist to the stars June Ambrose looked drop dead gorgeous in a pale pink sequined pallated mini, which I'm sure has to be vintage. She matched it up with light grey heels. Now that's what I call behind the scenes beauty! Veteran African model Alex Wek, who is also one of my favs wore this awesome silver slinky frock, which gives her skin an awesome glow.

Zoe Kravitz is also one of my favorites. Her style is usually boho-hippy, I just don't care, I can put anything on and still look gorgeous. I do think she actually put some thought into this look though. The turquoise leather jacket just pops against her creamy skin. I love it! Rachel Roy is known for rocking her head to toe looks on the red carpet. Shouldn't every design promote themselves? I think Rachel's style goes beyond the clothes, because she owns it every time and just makes you want to ransack her closet. Speaking of promotion, Tyra Banks wore this nude dress from by the Rachel Roy collection.

Model, Liya Kebede is wearing a gorgeous tuxedo style Stella McCartney jacket dress. I think this looks suits her. :) Laura Ling and Euna Lee look amazing after the tumultous year they've been through. I love Euna's crimson frock.

Serena has stepped it up tremendously in the glam department. She is wearing a gorgeous fire red Pamela Rolland gown. I love Amy Poehler. She just has a baby last year and looks amazing in the nude lacey dress. Chic simplicity!

Kerry Washington is someone I absolutely love to death, but I think she went a little to vintage. I'm seeing Rachel Zoe 2.1, so this is not one of my fav looks from the movie starlet. Supermodel, Iman is a knockout in Jason Wu! Does she ever age? I mean seriously, what is her beauty regimen.

Woman of the night, Rihanna was honored for her work with Domestic Violence. I'm not sure doing what, since she's been silent most of the year after the Chris Brown debacle but I guess it was something behind the scenes. lol. Either way she looks stunning and is a knock out in this cream, pleated Stephane Rolland gown. It's a much needed departure, from her battered and bruise edgy style and I like it. This dress is a winner from the intricate folds of the pleats, the fish tail him, the sheer cutouts and air tight fit. She rocked it hands down!

So who was your favorite?

Wait Your Turn!

Ha! Last month I did a post on Princess Rih Rih, exiting a hotel in New York rocking a heavy Rick Owens leather jacket, these exact torn jeans with a different pair of fishnets underneath. A month later we get to see what it's for! If you don't remember the post it's HERE. She's a gorgeous girl. I'm glad to see her moving forward. Here's to Rih putting the Chris Brown fiasco behind her for good. Wait your turn!

Jean Paul Gaultier for Melissa Shoes!!

The environmentally friendly, plastic shoe company Melissa Shoes is teaming up with Jean Paul Gaultier!! I love Melissa, and I still plan on snagging a pair of those Dragon Fly heart shoes, done by Vivienne Westwood. I read on Made In Brazil, that Jean Paul Gaultier was one of the first designers to actually collaborate with the brand back in 1983. According to their site, the brand has also worked with Mugler, Patrick Cox, Karim Rashid, Alexandre Herchcovitch and Zaha Hadid. Here's a sample of what's to come.

Already. In love.

Taylor Jacobson Quits Rachel Zoe Inc.!

Well Tay Tay, after much whining and complaining your wish has finally been granted. Taylor Jacobson, one of the head stylist on Bravo's Rachel Zoe Project is done, finished! If you're a regular viewer of the reality-tv guilty pleasure than you've probably gotten used to her complaining about not being able to go to Paris, being stuck in New York doing pulls for a shoot when she'd rather be in LA and yadda yadda. Hey Tay-Tay, there's a million and one girls who would love to suffer what you had to endure. Thanks for stepping aside. Best of luck to you!  Rumors are swirling around that she didn't quit Rachel Zoe Inc, and that she was indeed fired. Juicy!

Natalie Portman for V Magazine Issue #62

Every now and again, you come across a spread that makes you stop, look and just say whoa! Well, Whoa! Natalie Portman looks amazing on the cover of the winter issue of V Magazine. I'm in love with her "pompadour" hair and the androgynous styling is so 50s tough guy chic! On the cover, which was shot by Mario Testino, she was wears classic CK jeans adorned with crystallized Swarovski elements. Loves it! The issue is already on newsstands, but here's a sneak peak.

A star at the age of 12, Natalie Portman could have found herself a victim of fast fame.  Instead, the insanely talented, supremely beautiful, and intensely focused young actress has carved out a Hollywood career of stunning depth.  Now she’s expanding her repertoire in the season’s war blockbuster “Brothers”, starring in her first-ever sex scene, and speaking her mind, as always.

Arlenis!

It's been a while for one of my favorite model BFF's (in my head), but as usual in every spread Arlenis Sosa brings her A-Game. Shot by Manolo Campion and styled by Lisa Von Weise.

Fashion Clinic & Cocktails at Eva Boutique!

So last Thursday I went to an awesome trunkshow for W29 Showroom featuring Karolina Zmarlark's Fall and Spring Collection as well as these amazing necklaces by Tomoko Igarashi. I don't know, something about the invite just popped to me and after viewing pics of the necklaces I knew I had to be there! The good folks of W29 Showroom didn't disappointment providing great cocktails, and having the designers themselves (who I'm sure are very busy) on hand to explain their collection in thorough detail.

Upon entering the Eva Boutique I was met with 5 dangling white maniquins all donning threads from the latest Karolina Zmarlark collection. The line was so futuristic, so new, and so now. I could definitely see edgy fashion chicks who dress to the beat of their own drum, like Rihanna, Roison Murphy, or even Gaga rocking the look. I instantly fell in love with the liquid, one-shoulder jumpsuit and the jackets were great too! Everything in the collection is reversible and versatile; with one snap it gives you the option to wear a look many different ways.

In their rear of the store, I walked into a paradise of chain linked necklaces where jewelry designer, Tomoko Igarashi had her unique pieces on display. I loved every piece, and they weren't heavy at all! A woman standing next to the designer, wearing a cool, chunky grey sweater tried on one of the silver pieces and it worked like magic! I tried sneaking a pic but was too slow. :-(

All in all, it was another great night. Yea, monster retail chains like F21 and H&M are great, but I thoroughly encourage you guys to switch it up a bit by visiting different boutiques around the city. You never know what you may find and you can start with Eva at 355 Bowery. Trust, you won't be disappointed. Tell them La:Dolce:Vita sent you!

Kate Spade Boerum Hill Mikkel Bag

Can't be edgy all the time! This bag is perfect for the editor type: a woman who's busy, always on the go but still wants to make a statement! The name is oh so fitting as I can clearly envision a young lady in her 20-30s skipping around the flourishing Brooklyn neighborhood with this bag in tow.

Regis and Kelly Impersonate the Rachel Zoe Project!!!!

LOL! I lovvvvve the RZP! It is one of my favorite reality tv shows. I've never seen an impersonation so dead on; so perfect. Regis as Brad is totally hilarious. Tay-Tay and Rodger- Classic!!! I always though Rodger was a little robotic. Ughh, why didn't I think of RZ for Halloween!
